More than 90 percent of American men believe in God, and five out of six call themselves Christians. But only two out of six attend church on a given Sunday. The average man accepts the reality of Jesus Christ, but fails to see any value in going to church. Both men were in the same church the same day. Each found what he was looking for. It has been said that churches and banks are much alike in one respect: “What one gets out is, for the most part, dependent upon what one puts in.” (copied) Go To Illustrations Index 1. The Art and Craft of Biblical Preaching by Haddon Robinson and Craig Brian Larson is the greatest collection of preaching articles I have ever read.. What I love most about this book is the incredible variety of opinions from expert preachers like: John Stott, Bill Hybels, Larry Osborne, Tim Keller, Rick Warren, John Ortberg, Charles Swindoll, John Piper, Andy Stanley and so many more. Keep in mind that when you hear a stat that does not make sense—like going to church makes you more likely to divorce, contrary to many other studies—don't rush to assume it's true.

It’s in giving that we experience God the most. And I’m desperate to experience God. Here are 5 ways you can get the most of a worship service: 1. Prepare. In the end, Bessey and Walters are right. And the man does it without deviating a single step from what the Bible says. In fact what the writer wants to see through the book is that you should stop viewing the Church as a religious safe place to keep you in your comfort zone and start acting more like the Christians of the early Church/5().
